We have previously talked about display homes as a great property investment alternative. Not only do they usually yield in they order of 7% to 8% in rental income, but they are not lived in!
In addition, the builder cleans them every week and keeps them maintained. When the display village eventually winds up, often 18 – 24 months from commencement, you will be handed back an almost new house.
At this point in time you would need to understand that the return will revert to market rents. However, we find that many of our clients still receive an acceptable return or take this opportunity to sell what is still a very attractive and virtually new home.
We also find that many of the display homes are purchased by future owner-occupiers. These buyers are looking to upgrade or move between cities. The display home gives them the opportunity to plan their move well in advance, secure a beautiful new home and enjoy an above average return on their investment while they wait to move in.
